There's always enough parking, but not always right next to your apartment. The gates also don't extend around the full perimeter, so people can easily walk in through the sides or back by the trails. Either that, or they can easily sneak in behind a resident. The gates aren't effective since nearly anyone can wait at the gate and eventually a resident will let them in because they don't want to wait. I always felt pretty secure there, but I did hear about some break ins a few times. Houston Mill does get backed up during the major commute hours, but even the wait when it is completely backed up to La Vista isn't unbearable. If you work at Emory or CDC, it's also walking distance (about a mile away) and driving was very easy if you'd rather do that. It was very nice to have some hiking trails right out back to let the dogs run around in and there are waste stations with bags and trash cans set up all over the complex.īeing walking distance to Kroger, Publix, restaurants, etc was very nice. It might be a negative if you don't have pets, but honestly, I rarely heard much barking around us. The complex is very dog friendly, and that was one of the major draws from our point of view. We often walked our dogs late at night and the complex was almost always completely silent everywhere we walked. Since we were on the ground floor, we did occasionally hear the people above us walking around, but not much other noise. Noise was very low, and in fact this was one of the things I enjoyed the most. The front staff were almost always very nice and helpful (only had got a little attitude a couple of times and from one person in particular). And of course, if you get right next to the parking lots, you could have more trouble with noise and headlights.

I also heard that living in the apartments directly next to Kroger is very bad due to truck unloading early in the morning. They offer complementary pest control every week though (all you have to do is ask), and I heard that people away from the woods didn't have as many problems. Not really roaches, but a lot of spiders and millipedes. We were at the very back near the woods on the ground level, so we did have a lot of trouble with bugs. The location of your apartment will determine a lot. I used to live at Calibre for several years.
